Multi Activity Lake District 4 Days

A unique tour through the Lake District

Join us in this active tour through the Lake District, the north gate of Chilean Patagonia. This itinerary combines outdoors activities with educational experiences, to get the essence and the most from the natural scenery of mountains, rivers, volcanoes and lakes.

DAY 1: WELCOME TO THE LAKE DISTRICT

Afternoon or evening Walking Tour Puerto Varas and wine tasting.  Briefing about the region and presentation of the itinerary for the days ahead.

Overnight in Puerto Varas.


DAY 2:  BIKE & BEER  / RAFTING

MORNING ACTIVITIES:

We leave Puerto Varas biking back roads which offer beautiful views of the lake and the volcanoes. After biking for 3 kilometers, we arrive at our first stop of the day, the Chester Beer brewery, owned by Derek Way. Derek has been producing traditionally brewed beer for 5 years, and this brewery is the result of years of effort and providing good beer to his friends in Puerto Varas.
We continue biking back roads until we reach the small village of Llanquihue to begin the old road to Frutillar, bordering the lake and with stunning views of the mountains and the whole area.

AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES:

Rafting the River Petrohué with our specialist team of rafting and kayaking guides. The river is located at the National Park Vicente Pérez Rosales and offer stunning views of mountains and the exuberant native flora. We will advance down the river through more than 13 km. of rapids class III and IV.

Overnight in Puerto Varas.


DAY 3: CHILOE, PENGUINS AND LOCAL CULTURE

Drive and ferry to the island of Chiloé.
Navigation to the Penguin Colony Puñihuil.
Visiting to village of Chacao, Ancud and Caulín.
Lunch at a local fishermen restaurant (Children menu available)
Return to Puerto Varas by 6:00 pm. Overnight in Puerto Varas.

The island of Chiloé is a full cultural and natural immersion experience. The native roots are still alive through the myths and legends that survive in the island. The history of Chile and the Spanish domination in Southamerica is strongly linked with the history of this island. The unique architecture of the Jesuits and Franciscans churches, the simplicity of its colorful villages, the human scale economy based in agriculture and fishing activities capture the attention of visitors from all over the world that want to experience the life of an island that still preserves its uniqueness and that slowly is changing with the arrival of modernity. The natural part f the trip will be the navigation to the Birdlife and Penguin Colony of Puñihuil. Among different species of sea mammals and birds we will find the only place in the world where Humboldt and Magellanic Penguin breed together.


DAY 4: TREKKING NATIONAL PARK ALERCE ANDINO or SEAKAYAK RELONCAVI

On day 4 you can choose between hike through the lava formations and the native forest of the National Park Alerce Andino or the experience of kayaking through the fjords of the Lake District.

Full day activities, return to Puerto Varas by 6:00 PM.

Overnight in Puerto Varas.

Difficulty Level: Low-medium, 30 km. biking
Guide: Bilingual naturalist guide.
Activities: Hiking – Biking – Rafting – Navigations – Optional: Kayak – Photo opportunity.

Rafting Operated by Kokayak.
Navigation in Puñihuil operated by Turismo y Gastronomía Puñihuil.

Accommodations, transportation and other included: 4 nights in Estancia 440 Hotel or similar accommodations, private ground transportation, navigations, National Parks entrance fees.

Meals: Lunch or box lunch for each day.

Not Included: Airline tickets, tips, insurances and any other item not specified.

Minimum of passengers: Trips are guaranteed to depart with a minimum of two participants.
